The program
Skills, mental toughness and a staff that has played and coached at the top of the sport.
Smart, tough and above the line
Oak Park players bring skills and intelligence to the field. We coach them to play smart. When Eagles players demonstrate Game IQ and mental toughness, games are more fun and more likely to result in wins.
Above the line is ownership, accountability and relentless focus on the next play. Below the line is default, reactive and impulsive, and it shows up as blame, complaining and defending. When at their best, our players stay above the line, and they lead through service to teammates because lacrosse is the ultimate team sport.
A two-way commitment
Commitment and character
- Attend practice and work hard.
- Be a good teammate.
- Communicate with coaches.
- Respect everyone. Teammates, opponents, coaches, officials, parents and fans.
- Accept feedback. No BCD (blame, complain, defend).
- Understand playing time is earned and not equal.
- No cursing.
Coaching that builds players
- Rapport. Coaches who know each player.
- Skill development. Coached at every practice.
- A safe environment.
- Physical and mental progression. Strength, speed and mental toughness.
- Help meeting goals. Player goals and team goals.
- Clear feedback. What to work on next.
- Earned playing time. Skill, character, respect, and commitment impact time competing on the field.
